Yellow Fever vaccination requirements vary by country, as listed by the WHO. Travelers from non-risk countries, such as those in Europe, the USA, and parts of Asia, do not need a vaccination to enter Tanzania. For more information, please visit this link: CDC Yellow Fever Vaccine.

Although Tanzania is not a Yellow Fever endemic country, the presence of mosquitoes capable of transmitting the virus poses a potential risk if the virus is introduced.

Travelers from non-endemic countries transiting through Yellow Fever zones do not need a vaccination certificate if they remain in the airport for under 12 hours without leaving the transit area.

Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory for travelers arriving from endemic countries; they will need to present their Certificate of Vaccination at the airport upon arrival.

Failure to provide a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate, when required, may result in denial of entry or vaccination upon arrival, with close health monitoring for up to 10 days.

When Should I Get a Yellow Fever Vaccination? The Yellow Fever vaccination, given as a single dose, should be administered at least ten (10) days before entering the country. A single dose provides lifelong protection. Individuals exempt due to medical reasons or age (over 60 or under 1 year) should seek medical attention if they experience symptoms like fever, headache, or muscle and joint pain.
